Professor Cheng-Teh James Huang, member of the Academic Advisory Committee of ILAS, has been elected 2016 Academician of Academia Sinica in the division of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Academicians of Academia Sinica are elected every two years at the Convocation of Academicians. Academicians are divided according to the four divisions of Academia Sinica: Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Engineering Sciences; Life Sciences; and Humanities and Social Sciences. Each division is permitted no more than 10 new Academicians (40 for all divisions in total) to be elected at each convocation.
 
This year, Academia Sinica held its biennial Convocation of Academicians from July 4 to July 7 culminating in the announcement of the 2016 list of Academicians on July 7, 2016. A total of 20 new Academicians and 2 Honorary Academicians were elected this year.
