Dr. Chiu-yu Tseng Elected 2016 Fellow of International Speech Communication Association (ISCA)
Dr. Chiu-yu Tseng, Distinguished Research Fellow and Director of the Institute of Linguistics at Academia Sinica, has been elected as a Fellow of the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) 2016. The citation she receives is “For contributions to prosody understanding through corpus based analysis and modeling, and service to speech and language communities.”Established in 1988, ISCA has become the major professional association in the global field of speech science and technology development. With membership over 1500 persons, the association is dedicated to promote activities and exchanges in all fields related to speech science and technology advancements. ISCA Fellow is one of ISCA’s most prestigious honors. Each year, following a rigorous evaluation procedure, the ISCA Fellow Committee recommends less than one-third percent of its members to receive the fellowship. Since the first 12 ISCA Fellows were introduced in 2008, less than 7 members were selected each year, and a total of only 51 Fellows have been elevated by 2015.
Dr. Chiu-yu Tseng will be the first female and second person in Taiwan to receive the fellowship. The 2016 named fellows will receive their diploma and pin during the opening ceremony at the Interspeech 2016 conference (September 8th -12th ) in San Francisco.
