LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS is an international journal publishing research in general or theoretical linguistics on the languages of East Asia and the Pacific region, including Sino-Tibetan, Austronesian, Austroasiatic and Altaic language families (Indo-European and Afro-Asiatic languages are not included). Contributions may be in the form of original research articles, squibs, or book reviews. LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS is a pure linguistics journal. We publish articles on general and theoretical linguistic studies, but not articles on applied linguistics such as language teaching, language learning or translation.
LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS has been indexed in both SSCI and A&HCI since 2007. It has been publishing four times a year since 2017, with three issues in English (January, April and October) and one in Traditional Chinese (July).
The style sheet for both Chinese and English submissions is identical, except that references in Chinese papers should be transliterated into Hànyŭ Pīnyīn and translated into English. (Please refer to L&L Style Sheet for English Submission and Chinese Submission)
Both Chinese and English submissions are subject to anonymous peer review. Manuscripts should be submitted by electronic file in Traditional Chinese (not exceeding 25,000 words) or in English (single-spaced and within 35 pages) with specialized formatting kept to a minimum. Authors should submit two separate pdf files (with fonts embedded) for the paper and abstract. Both files should be anonymous, removing all information regarding the author or authors, including name, affiliation, contact information, and acknowledgements, and submitted through the online submission system. Please note that LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS does not charge submission or article processing fee.
Beginning January 2016, the monographs of L&L will be published open access online only. We believe that this new publication policy will bring the following benefits to L&L: keeping up with the e-publishing trend, providing an easier digital reading mode for the widely-dispersed audience, increasing book circulation and impact, lowering the printing cost, saving trees and protecting our environment.
Authors should submit two separate pdf files (with fonts embedded) for the monograph and the abstract (with index and appendices). We do not accept conference proceedings and translations. The review process of monographs is the same as the journal, but the review process generally takes longer. Manuscripts should be submitted as electronic files and followed by L&L Style Sheet for English Submission and Chinese Submission. For articles included in Collected Papers, please follow the Collected Paper styles (English Submission, Chinese Submission). Both files should be anonymous, removing all information regarding the author or authors, including name, affiliation, contact information, and acknowledgements, and submitted through the online submission system.
